Med Center Health Announces 10K Classic Donations to American Cancer Society and The Medical Center Cancer Treatment Center
Bowling Green, Ky. (February 20, 2019) – Med Center Health announced a total of $13,000 raised through the 2018 Med Center Health 10K Classic will be donated to the American Cancer Society (ACS) and to benefit cancer patients in Southcentral Kentucky. After expenses and cash prizes, the $13,000 proceeds from “the race for everyone” will be split evenly between the ACS and The Medical Center Cancer Treatment Center.
“We are honored to provide much-needed funds to help local cancer patients and to support our long-time partner, ACS,” said Doris Thomas, Vice President of Development and 10K Race Director. “We’re thankful to everyone who turned out for this important cause—together, we turned the entire town pink!”
The donation will be used at the Cancer Treatment Center to assist with transportation expenses for cancer patients who sometimes travel far distances several times a week to receive life-saving treatment at The Medical Center. It will also help with medication costs not covered by insurance, and other patient needs that may arise.
“We are thrilled to be able to expand our partnership with Med Center Health in the fight against cancer with the Med Center Health 10K Classic,” said Jill Isom, Senior Community Development Manager with the American Cancer Society. “This was such a fun event and I loved all the participants who wore pink to show their support. We are grateful to receive a portion of the proceeds that will benefit the American Cancer Society and our research as well as local programs and services for patients and their families.”
Plans are underway for the running of the 40th annual Med Center Health 10K Classic on September 21, 2019.
