Volunteers

Volunteers of all kinds are needed at the Free Clinic and at all times of the day and week.  While all volunteer service is appreciated, those who can volunteer on a recurring basis are preferred.  Both clinical and non-clinical volunteers are an integral part of the overall care provided to Free Clinic and Dental Clinic patients. Below are listed some of the areas in which your help would be appreciated.

CLINICAL VOLUNTEERS

NON-CLINICAL VOLUNTEERS

  • Physicians
  • Nurses
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Pharmacists
  • Lab technicians
  • Reception Desk
  • Patient Greeter
  • Patient Screeners
  • Pull and FIle Charts
  • Coordinate Snacks
  • Prepare Exam Rooms

Requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of patient confidentiality, we prefer that volunteers be at least 18 years of age or provide letters of recommendation from a teacher or adult who can attest to their abilities and maturity.

We will do our best to accommodate short term volunteer shifts, but we will ask for a 6 month commitment when an application is completed.

All volunteers must complete a volunteer packet and be scheduled for a volunteer interview before a shift will be assigned.

For the better health of all, potential volunteers must agree to annual TB testing, which will be provided free of charge, through the Commonwealth Health Corporation Employee Health Department.  Volunteers must have results of test in their volunteer file prior to first shift with no exceptions. TB testing is repeated annually for both staff and volunteer staff.

Volunteers who wish to count their volunteer service toward school, intern, community or college class credit must speak with Commonwealth Health Corporation Human Resources department for more information and more detailed orientation criteria.

If you can help in any way, please call 271-781-9260 or take a few minutes to volunteer online.
