Continuing Education Requirements for Relicensure in Kentucky

Registered Nurses
Thirty (30) contact hours are required for relicensure on October 31, 2004 and must be earned between November 1, 2002 and October 31, 2004.
Paramedics
Sixty-four (64) CE hours are required every two years.  Nationally Registered Paramedics are required to have 72 hours every two years. Relicensure is required every two years from initial certification date.


Licensed Practical Nurses
Thirty (30) contact hours are required for relicensure on October 31, 2003 and must be earned between November 1, 2001 and October 31, 2003.


Respiratory Therapy
Twenty-four (24) CE hours are required for relicensure every two years from initial certification.  Relicensure is done on an odd and even year rotation.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Certified Nursing Assistants are required to complete a minimum of twelve (12) staff development hours annually.
EMT
Twenty-four (24) CE hours are required every two years.  National Registered EMT's are required to have 72 hours every two years. Relicensure is required every two years from initial certification date.


Kentucky Nursing Home Administrators
Kentucky Nursing Home Administrators are required to complete thirty (30) CE hours every two years.
Medical Records
Twenty (20) CEU's are required every two years for Accredited Record Technicians (ART).  Thirty (30) CEU's are required every two years for Registered Record Administrators (RRA).  Relicensure is done on an odd and even year rotation.


Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Thirty (30) CE hours every two years.  To be approved, programs must relate to the content of the CPHQ exam.
Dietitians
Seventy-five (75) CE hours are required every five years.  Relicensure is required annually, expiring on December 31.


American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE)
American College of Healthcare Executives Diplomates and Fellows are expected to earn 5 hours of Category I and 5 hours of Category II credits on average each year for recertification.  Diplomates must recertify after six years and Fellows, after ten years.  For more specific information contact ACHE.


Certified Case Managers
Eighty (80) CE hours or re-exam are required every five years.
American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Twenty-four (24) CE hurs are required every two years. Relicensure is done on July 1 of even number of years.
