Bowling Green, Ky. (November 20, 2018) - The Medical Center at Caverna is now offering chemotherapy for cancer patients in partnership with Medical Center Hematology & Oncology, a physician specialty clinic located in the Community Health Center on the campus of The Medical Center at Caverna.

Chemotherapy is drug therapy used to combat cancer and ease symptoms caused by the disease. Patients in need of chemotherapy usually receive treatment on a regular basis of one or more days a week over a period of time determined by their oncologist. Intravenous treatment can last several hours, including the time it takes for an individual’s medication to be prepared in a sterile environment at the time of treatment. For patients who live in rural areas, transportation to and from an infusion center to have chemotherapy can be a both a physical and financial burden due to their illness and frequent long hours of travel.

“We want to provide cancer treatment as close as possible to home,” said Rishi Agarwal, M.D., board-certified oncologist with Medical Center Hematology & Oncology, “so patients and families can spend more time with their loved ones and less time on the road.”

Patients in the Horse Cave/Hart County area who need chemotherapy once a week can see Dr. Agarwal at the Medical Center Hematology & Oncology clinic at the Community Health Center, then receive treatment onsite at The Medical Center at Caverna. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Agarwal, call the Bowling Green office at 270-796-2557.

Other specialty clinics available at The Medical Center at Caverna include Pulmonology, General Surgery & Endoscopy, Orthopaedic Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Cardiology. For more information about The Medical Center at Caverna and the specialty clinics, visit TheMedicalCenterCaverna.org
